Cuts right through the palate – very brisk and precise. Very edgy and super-refreshing. Very bright fruit indeed and a dry impression. Still a little chewy but it should age well. Possibly the best South African Riesling I have tasted. 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson MW
Citrus, lemon sherbet, floral, fynbos, rose geranium, apple blossom on the nose with zesty, fruity, citrus on the palate. Jessica Saurwein
Casey’s Ridge Vineyard, Elgin – The red slate soil is loamy and very rocky.
2019 was a great vintage with a cool late ripening for Riesling. Spontaneous fermentation lasted just over 9 weeks and has palate weight, texture and citrus aromas plus fruity flavours, and texture. Around 2600 bottles were produced.
Chi means ‘life force’ and Chi also stands for CHIUTA (an African rain god). Situated in the fertile Elgin valley, the picturesque vineyard site inspired the creation of this crisp, handcrafted Riesling.
Salads, cheeses, Asian-style dishes with a bit of spicy sweetness.
